CHARACTERS, CREATURES, and LOCATIONS

I know. A Journey Unveiled and even more so An Enemy Defined have a lot of characters and locations and creatures with strange names and pronunciations and it's hard to keep them all straight. I get it. I often have the same problem when I read. That's why I included a glossary at the back of both books, which I've duplicated here for your convenience!

CHARACTERs 

Aeric = Air-ick – Last name Gower. Crown Prince of Gowerland.

Ardryll = Ar-drill – A bloodthirsty Selenite.

Astred = Ass-tred – Halden’s mother, from Jalnarrah.

Ayanella = Eye-an-ella – The goddess who created Ayandoh, the planet.

Bain = One of Gowerland’s founders. AKA Bain the Banisher.

Bliant = Bly-ant – Prince of Azkesh, a country in Avrus.

Burtch = Burr-tch – Coulehower sentry.

Brutzu = Broot-zoo – Coulehower sentry.

Cadbian = Cad-bee-an – Aeric’s deceased cousin and best friend.

Calaral = Cal-a-ral – The maker of Lord Taron’s pendants.

Canaxis = Can-acks-sis – A woman Lexi meets.

Cruddir = Crud-deer – Coulehower Council. Grott.

Divius = Di-vee-us – A Coulehower sentry.

Djamus = Jay-mus – A guard in Coulehower.

Ebba = Eb-ba – King Ulric’s oracle.

Eethelyn = Ee-thel-in – Witch from Stakfleth. Kiandra’s mother.

Eklua = Ee-clue-ah – Grott in Coulehower.

Enar = Ee-nar – Halden’s father, from Jalnarrah.

Fibella = Fib-el-la – Coulehower Council member. Halfling.

Gabdryl = Gab-dreel – A half-elf from Coulehower.

Godric = One of Gowerland’s founders. AKA Godric the Grave.

Gorja = Gore-ja – Grott. From Coulehower. Married to Lyndon.

Gower = Gow-er – The royal family surname. (rhymes with ‘cow’)

Grobin = Grow-bin – A fighter that Lexi meets.

Halden = Hall-den – A child in Jalnarrah.

Henric = Hen-rick – Aeric’s deceased older brother.

Hiltwin = Hill-twin – A handless man Lexi meets.

Hogelda = Hog-ell-da – Coulehower Council. Dwarf.

Hozmar = Hoz-mar – Coulehower sentry. Dwarf.

Ingomer = In-go-mer – Boy in Coulehower.

Isa = Ee-sa – A prisoner.

Ishida = Ish-ee-da – A friend of Aeric’s.

Izelle = Ee-zel – A member of the Coulehower Council.

Jarsen = Jar-sen – Lexi’s friend and traveling companion.

Jexius = Jeck-see-us – A man Lexi meets.

Jilthyl = Jill-theel – Coulehower resident.

Juvvug = Joo-vug – Grott in Coulehower.

Kaythe = Kayth – Aeric’s aunt. Mother of Kellam.

Kellam = Kel-lam – Aeric’s cousin. Son of Kaythe.

Kiandra = Kee-awn-dra – Lexi’s deceased mentor and friend.

Laeroth = Lay-er-oth – A Selenite.

Loinnai = Low-win-eye – Light elves.

Lorellia = Lore-ell-ee-a – Aeric’s younger sister.

Lucain = Lew-cane – Aeric’s uncle. Cadbian’s father.

Lyndon = Lin-dun – From Coulehower. Married to Gorja. Lyrsa’s brother.

Lylena = Lie-lee-na – Pirene’s mother. In Coulehower.

Lyrsa = Leer-sa – From Coulehower. Married to Uflig. Lyndon’s sister.

Mirthal = Meer-thal – Shifter Lexi meets. Pronouns them/they.

Mistress Storsgren = Stores-gren – Owns the Tavern Inn. Jalnarrah.

Mylinna = My-linn-a – An elf/Loinnai. Travels with Lexi and Aeric.

Nanissa = Na-nis-sa – Aeric’s mother.

Noltes = Nole-tez – A friend of Aeric’s.

Olibhia = Oh-lib-hee-a – Coulehower Council member.

Onair = Oh-nair – A soldier Aeric knew. A.K.A Righty.

Orist = Or-ist – Jalnarrah’s unofficial mayor.

Panang = Pa-nang – Council member in Coulehower.

Pharaan = Fa-rawn – Shifter Lexi meets. Pronouns them/they.

Pirene = Pie-reen – Young girl in Coulehower.

Randel = Ran-dell – Runs lumber mill in Jalnarrah.

Selenia = Sel-len-ee-a – Ayanella’s fallen sister.

Selenite = Sel-len-ite – Dark elves who worship Selenia.

Selith = Sel-lith – The type of crystals used by the Selenites.

Shaleena = Sha-leen-a – A gossipy woman in Jalnarrah.

Sully = Sul-lee – A soldier Aeric knew. A.K.A. Lefty.

Sylvaria = Sill-vair-ee-a – Aeric’s older sister.

Tamina = Ta-mee-na – A prominent Selenite.

Taron Tolpabisk = Tare-un Tole-pa-bisk – Elf Lord. AKA Lord Taron of the Loinnai.

Tatsy = Tat-see – Old woman in Gabdryl’s story.

Tawedite = Taw-wed-ite – A religious order.

Tennard = Ten-nard – A major in King Ulric’s service.

Theda = Thee-da – Old slave woman Aeric and Lexi rescued in book one.

Toramore = Tore-a-more – A dwarf in Coulehower.

Tristine = Triss-teen – A friend of Sylvaria’s.

Uflig = Oo-flig – Grott. From Coulehower. Married to Lyrsa.

Ulric = King of Gowerland. Aeric’s father.

Ultrixi = Ul-trick-see – A half-halfling Lexi meets.

Vaniya = Va-nee-ya – A Selenite.

Varson = Var-son – A guard.

Vedosh = Ve-dosh – The proper term for witches.

Vesanyth = Ve-san-ith – A shifter Lexi meets. Pronouns them/they.

Vestmar = Vest-mar – A soldier.

Xinyue = Zin-yew – Loinnai. Seer. Gabdryl’s father.

Yardrelda = Yar-drell-da – Coulehower Council leader. Dwarf.

Yendar = An elf/Loinnai with dreadlocks. Potions master.

Yunden = Yun-den – Coulehower Council pageboy.

Zakaria = Zack-a-rye-ya – A man Lexi meets. Brother of Zaraphine.

Zaraphine = Zar-a-feen – A woman Lexi meets. Sister of Zakaria.

Zigali = Zig-al-lee – A baldheaded dwarf.

Zubell = Zoo-bell – Boy in Coulehower

 Crocatta = Crow-cat-ta – Selenite ground mounts. Deadly.

Empham = Em-fam – Good Fae. 1/3 size of humans.

Forabuf = For-a-boof – A frog with hatchlings in its back.

Lamnune = Lam-noon – Horned rabbit that breeds during lightning storms.

Lares = Lare-ees – Forest guardian. Nymph.

Nerad = Near-ad – Water guardian. Nymph.

Susgal = Suss-gal – Pig-like bird.

Sylph = Silf – Guardian of mountains and air. Nymph.

Undempham = Un-dem-fam – Bad Fae. 1/3 size of humans.

 

Locations

Ayandoh = Eye-an-dough – The planet, similar to Earth. Created by the goddess Ayanella.

Azkesh = Az-kesh – A country on the continent of Avrus (Av-russ)

Coulehower = Cow-le-how-er – An underground city.

Gowerland = Gow-er-land – The country in which the story is set.

Jalnarrah = Jal-nar-ra – A town.

Mount Naedmas = Nay-ed-mass – A prominent mountain.

Nebella = Ne-bell-a – Gowerland’s continent. Also the country northeast of the Gowerland border.

Roshuck = Row-shuck – Work camp and its associated tower.

Stakfleth = Stack-fleth – A city.

Sugref = Soog-ref – A work camp and its associated tower.
